I couldn't resist

Mmm… double-drop chocolate and vanilla cookies.

I have always loved these cookies and I really don’t make them often enough, especially for how easy they are. It’s a basic cookie batter that you divide in two, add chocolate to one half, and spoon them on to a cookie sheet together. I had the urge yesterday and sometime in the afternoon to make a batch. They’re so great because they are not incredibly sweet but enough to satisfy any sugar and chocolate craving.

Anyways, I think I’m ready to make that pie now.
Double Drop Cookies (Great American Cookies, Bodger)
¾ cup butter
1 ½ cups sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 ½ tsp vanilla
1 ¾ cups flour
¼ tsp salt
1 ½ ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted

Preheat oven to 350F and grease cookie sheet.

1. Cream butter and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla and blend well.
2. Stir together the flour and salt. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well.
3. Divide the dough in half, in two separate bowls. Add the melted chocolate to one half and blend well.
4. To make each cookie, drop teaspoon of vanilla dough onto the cookie sheet and a teaspoon of chocolate dough right next to it. Use a fork or spoon to push the two drops lightly together. Leave about 2 inches between cookies.
5. Bake for 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool for a minute and then transfer to wire racks to finish cooling.
